Farmingdale, NJ — Spectrum Home Furnishings and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) have voluntarily recalled crystal chandeliers for injury hazards the product poses to consumers. The CPSC announced the nationwide product recall on February 8, 2012.
The recall was issued after discovering that the chandeliers contain a mounting loop that can fail during use, which can cause the chandelier to fall and injure bystanders.
“The recall involves three models of chandeliers with model numbers a83-21502/36+1, a83-1502/36+1 and a46-490/30 printed on the exterior of the box in which the products were shipped. Models a83-21502/36+1 and a83-1502/36+1 are clear crystal chandeliers measuring about 52-inches wide and 60-inches high. Both models have an identical appearance, with one model number containing a different type of crystal,” reported the CPSC.
Consumers are advised to contact Spectrum Home Furnishings to receive a free replacement part, $150 to cover costs with replacement of the defective part, and a $25 incentive credit.
