Selma, IN — A rear-end collision has injured a Selma man after he ran into the back of a school bus in his SUV on Monday, December 12, 2011. The fatal automobile accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. on State Road 32, east of Muncie, reports WTHR.
According to police, a Selma Elementary School bus had stopped with its stop arm out and lights operational, when 41-year-old Scott A. Headley hit the bus from behind in his Dodge Durango.
Police further noted that there were no signs of skid marks on the road, which would have been present if he tried to stop prior to the collision.
One child who was getting off the bus at the time of the crash fell to the ground, but otherwise had no apparent injuries
Responding emergency crews rushed Headley to Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie for treatment of internal injuries. He was then transferred to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis by helicopter.
The driver of the bus, Alice Hill, 49, took herself to Ball Memorial to be checked out.
None of the three students or aide on the bus were injured.
Investigations into the school bus accident are underway.
