Las Vegas, NV — A “medical episode” led to a three-vehicle collision, involving two tour buses and a car, on Tuesday, December 6, 2011. The automobile accident occurred near the UNLB campus around 5:52 p.m. on Naples Drive, east of Paradise Road, reported the Las Vegas Sun.
According to reports, a 1999 Van Hool Tour bus, driven by Milton Thompson, 50, was transporting 25 passengers when it collided with the rear of a stopped 1991 Honda Civic. The impact pushed the Honda forward, causing it to collide with the back of a 2010 Temsa Global tour bus, which was also stopped.
The second bus, driven by Patrick Stamps, 53, of Las Vegas, was transporting 22 passengers.
Passengers on Thompson’s bus reported that the driver had a “medical episode” while driving, causing the crash.
Responding emergency crews rushed Thompson to Desert Springs Hospital in critical condition.
None of the passengers on the buses were injured.
The driver of the Honda, James Mater, 60, of Glenwood, N.M., and passenger, Penny Benson, 52, also of Glenwood, were not injured in the wreck.
Investigations into the three-vehicle accident are underway.
