Orlando, FL — Two buses collided Thursday morning, October 27, 2011, when a LYNX bus slammed into the back of a school bus, sending four children and three adults to the hospital. The traffic accident took place along Orange Blossom Trail, near Plymouth Sorrento Road just after 8 a.m., reported Central Florida News 13.
According to investigators, the commuter bus rear-ended the school bus while it stopped with its red lights flashing and its stop sign extended, as children were boarding the bus.
The collision injured four students on the school bus, and three adults aboard the LYNX bus. The driver of the commuter bus, 60-year-old Raymond Miles, was among the injured.
Miles could not explain why he crashed into the back of the school bus.
Responding emergency crews transported the injured to area hospitals for treatment of their “minor” injuries.
Twenty-five children were on the bus, including those who were boarding at the time of the wreck. The school bus was reportedly on its way to Zellwood Elementary School at the time of the crash.
Charges are currently pending against Miles. Investigations are underway.
