Waterloo, IA — A pedestrian was run over by a train, causing her to lose her leg in Warterloo Monday, September 5, 2011. The train accident occurred around 2:30 p.m., at the railroad tracks on Conger Street at Reed Street, reported the WCF Courier.

Shvette Grubbs, 46, of 218 Conger Street, reportedly tried to climb onto a parked train, which was blocking Conger, in order to get to the other side of the street when the train started to move—knocking her onto the ground and under the train.

Grubbs’ leg was severed as a result, reported the Chicago Tribune.

Responding emergency crews rushed her to Allen Memorial Hospital where she was later flown to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. for medical treatment. Grubbs is reportedly listed in critical condition.

Waterloo Police are investigating the train accident.
