Chicago, IL — Two workers were rushed to the hospital after a lift-crane fell over and hit one of the men. The construction accident occurred at about 10 a.m. in the 9900 block South Genoa Avenue in the Washington Heights neighborhood, reported the Chicago Tribune.
According to Chicago Police, a lift-crane toppled over for unknown reasons while working on a bridge. The crane hit the upper-body of a 59-year-old worker, but did not crush him.
Responding emergency crews rushed to scene and transported the victim to Advocate Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn in serious-to-critical condition. Authorities reported that his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.
Another worker, who was on the crane at the time, was taken in good condition to Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park. He was reportedly shaken up over the accident.
Both workers were conscious when they were rushed to the hospital.
Investigations into the construction accident are underway. It was not reported if the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will be investigating the accident.
