Colorado Springs, CO—A man was killed after being dragged behind an SUV he was trying to tow on Wednesday, February 23, 2011. The incident happened just after 11:00 a.m., as the man was trying to hook up an SUV that was illegally parked, as reported by KDVR.
According to police officials, Allen Rose was in the process of hooking his tow truck to an SUV parked illegally at the Hill Park Apartments on N. Murray Blvd, when the young woman responsible for the SUV got in the vehicle and drove off. Somehow Rose’s leg became entangled in the tow cable used to hook up the vehicle to the truck, which broke as the SUV sped away.
Rose was dragged behind the SUV as it left the apartment complex and drove to the area of Platte Avenue and Babcock Drive.
Details are still unclear, but The Denver Channel reported that Rose’s leg was torn from his torso as a result, while KRDO-TV reported the victim had both of his legs severed as a result.
Rose was rushed to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The driver of the SUV was located by police officials and is being questioned. No arrests have been made at this time.
