Irving, TX—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Michael’s Stores Inc. have announced a voluntary recall of silver tree tealight candle holders for fire hazards they pose. The CPSC announced the recall, which includes about 7,600 lights, on December 22, 2010.
The recall was initiated after discovering that the tealight cups are positioned where the flame from the candles can ignite other parts of the candle holder, which poses a fire hazard to consumers.
The CPSC reported, “This recall involves silver-colored tealight candle holders in a shape of a Christmas tree. The candle holders are about 16-inches tall and have a silver star on the top. Nine tealight cups and clear plastic beads hang from the tree branches. The product was sold exclusively at Michaels Arts & Craft stores nationwide from October 2010 through December 2010 for about $20.”
Consumers are advised to return the candle holders to any Michaels Arts & Craft store for a full refund.
For more information concerning the recall, consumers can contact Michaels at (800) 642-4235 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. CT, Monday through Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT on Sunday, or visit their website at www.michaels.com.
