Oldsmar, FL—An Oldsmar traffic accident left a motorcyclist from Tampa with potentially life threatening injuries Tuesday afternoon, November 16, 2010. The victim’s bike collided with a car around 4:40 p.m., according to information provided by TBO.com.

Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said 28-year-old Victor Guilfucci, of Tampa, was riding his bike along Tampa Road when a 1999 Mazda Protégé unexpectedly stopped in front of him.

Though Guilfucci applied his brakes in an attempt to avoid a collision, he could not do so in time. The Tampa motorcyclist was subsequently ejected from his bike and onto the truck of the Mazda, which was being driven by 43-year-old Marco Vila, of Tampa, at the time.

Reports indicated the car’s back window was shattered in the collision, though Vila did not sustain any injuries. Guilfucci, on the other hand, was not so fortunate.

Emergency responders airlifted Guilfucci to St. Petersburg-based Bayfront Medical Center. Though the extent of his injuries was not clear, Pinellas County Sheriff’s officials said his wounds were very severe.

While alcohol and/or drugs did not appear to play a roll in the injurious motorcycle accident, speed was not ruled out as a potential factor. Investigations into the Oldsmar car-motorcycle collision are expected to be underway.
