Rock Hill, SC—Four people were rushed to area hospitals after a car slammed into the back of a school bus Thursday evening, November 11, 2010. According to information provided by WBTV, a Rock Hill elementary school teacher succumbed to her traumatic injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Reports indicated Kathy Christensen was driving her vehicle near Highway 5, when it rear-ended a school bus for unknown reasons. Christensen’s husband, Jud and mother, Rene Trimnal were also occupying the car when it collided with the school bus.
Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel were dispatched to the scene to transport those injured in the wreck to local hospitals. While Trimnal was initially rushed to Piedmont Medical Center, her injuries proved fatal and she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Kathy and Jud Christensen were taken to Carolinas Medical Center via ambulance and medical helicopter, respectively. Their injuries were described as serious.
The driver of the school bus involved, Whitney Wade, suffered undisclosed injuries and was transported to the hospital. She has since been released. There were no kids on the bus at the time.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is expected to conduct a full probe into the Rock Hill school bus-car collision. No charges have been filed as of yet.
