Newbury Park, CA—The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Giant Bicycle Inc. have voluntarily recalled about 370 Anthem Giant Bicycles. The CPSC announced the recall on November 12, 2010, which only included the 2011 model year bicycles.

The recall was initiated after discovering that the frame of the bicycles can crack at the junction of the seat post and top tube, which can pose a fall hazard to riders.

The CPSC reported, “This recall involves 2011 model year Giant Anthem X 29er 1, 2, and 3 model bicycles. The bicycles were sold in small, medium and large. ‘Giant’ and the model name are printed on the bicycle.”

Consumers are advised to contact your local Giant Bicycle dealer to receive a free inspection and repair.

For further information concerning the recall, consumers can contact Giant Bicycle at (866) 458-2555 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. PT Monday through Friday or visit at www.giant-bicycles.com.
