Sacramento, CA—A multiple-vehicle collision, involving a UC Davis charter bus filled with sorority and fraternity members, sent at least 8 people to the hospital with minor to moderate injuries. The eight-vehicle collision occurred on Interstate 80 and Mace Boulevard in Davis around midnight, as reported by the Daily Democrat.

The chain reaction crash is believed to have been caused by an unidentified vehicle that was stopped in the fast lane of westbound I-80. According to a witness, him and his wife stopped to help the motorists after they witnessed a vehicle hit a black early 1990’s-style mustang. Their car was then rear-ended by a UC Davis charter bus, which was carrying about 40 fraternity and sorority members who were on their way home form a party. Police officers did not say what sorority and fraternity was on board the bus.

Other vehicles who slowed down while approaching the wreck became involved as well, as they began hitting one another.

The driver of the Mustang fled the scene of the multiple-vehicle crash.

Responding emergency crews transported eight people to area hospitals for treatment of minor to moderate injuries. Only one person on board of the bus was injured.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is looking for the driver of the Mustang. Evidence of alcohol was not found at the scene.

The CHP is asking for anyone with information concerning the accident is asked to call the Woodland CHP office at 662-4685.
