Nashville, TN—A 2-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a boulder stuck him in the head while he and his family spent the afternoon at Fall Creek Falls State Park last weekend. The Van Buren Sheriff’s Department is now investigating whether the October 16, 2010 incident was accidental of if someone dropped the large rock on the tot, according to information provided by News Channel 5.
Caleb Brown, 2, and his family were apparently standing at the foot of a gorge when a boulder fell, hitting the toddler on the head. Reports alleged the boulder was larger than a basketball.
Young Caleb was rushed to Chattanooga-based Children’s Hospital, where as of Monday, he remained listed in critical condition.
“They told us it would take three days to know to what extent the swelling would be, so they are doing everything they can to control the swelling, and give him medication,” said Tim Brown, Caleb’s father.
Doctors contended that while they managed to control and regulate the swelling in Caleb’s brain, he is suffering from medical issues related to his kidney, heart and lungs.
Individuals who wish to make a donation to help Caleb’s family pay for his medical bills may do so at any SunTrust Bank. Donations will be placed into a fund by the name of “Caleb Brown Trust.”
Investigations into the bizarre and unfortunate incident are underway.
