Wife of a Dynamic Industries oil rig welder files a death lawsuit in Louisiana

New Orleans, LA (JusticeNewsFlash.com)–A helicopter, operated by PHI, Incorporated, based in Lafayette, Louisiana, crashed on January 11, 2009. Seven passengers died in the chopper crash including Allen Boudreaux, Jr., 23, a welder. His widow, Britain Boudreaux, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in a Terrebonne Parish state court against PHI, Inc. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the helicopter was flying eight men to a Shell oil platform, located in the Gulf of Mexico, when it crashed into a Louisiana marsh. Steve Yelton, of Floresville, Texas was the only survivor of the helicopter crash and was being treated for his injuries by doctors and nurses at a New Orleans area hospital.

The U.S. National Transportation and Safety Board, (NTSB) www.ntsb.gov, remains investigating the wreckage to determine the cause of the crash. The helicopter, a Sikorsky S-76C, went down about 100 miles southwest of New Orleans. Helicopter crash investigators say the crew did not report any problems before the mysterious crash. Wreckage parts were moved to Lafayette for examination by NTSB experts and the chopper’s voice recorders were sent to Washington, D.C. for analysis.

Lawyers for the widow filed the personal injury lawsuit for unspecified damages have claiming PHI’s negligence caused the wrongful death of Boudreaux The legal team says weather on the day of the crash was not a factor so pilot error or mechanical failure is most likely the basis for the crash. Boudreaux worked for Dynamic Industries, Inc., which manufacturers parts for oil refineries and oil rigs.
