Tulsa, OK—Two workers were injured after construction equipment plummeted off the I-244 in downtown Tulsa. The construction accident occurred on Monday morning, October 11, 2010 around 10:10 a.m., at Interstate 244 near Denver Avenue, as reported by Tulsa World and NewsOn6.com.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported two Manhattan Road and Bridge Company workers were on a hydraulic platform, which was extended up to Interstate 224 from the inclined embankment, when it suddenly began to tumble off the embankment.

The workers were apparently making repairs to the wall that runs along the highway.

The operator of the equipment and a man on the scaffolding suffered broken bones in the accident. EMSA transported the injured men to a Tulsa hospital for treatment of their injuries.

A full investigation into the construction accident is underway. Officials with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) are expected to investigate the incident as well.
