Northbrook, IL—The Lamb of Nod, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Commission (CPSC), voluntarily recalled approximately 1,200 “Play With Your Veggies” toys. The CPSC announced the defective product recall on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, due to laceration hazards associated with the children’s toys.
Children who use the “Play With Your Veggies” toys run the risk of cutting themselves on a metal wire, which has the potential to become exposed, in the toy asparagus. While the Illinois-based manufacturer has yet to be informed of any injuries in connection with the recall, they received one report of an exposed wire.
According to information provided by the CPSC, “This recall involves The Land of Nod toy vegetables sets made of felt wool. The toy set has six vegetables: radish, onion, asparagus, tomato, lettuce and carrot. The asparagus is the only toy vegetable involved in this recall.”
The risky “Play With Your Veggies” toys were sold in The Land of Nod stores in Illinois and Washington, as well as through the company’s catalogue and Web site. The kid’s toy vegetables, which cost about $25, were made available for purchase between October 2007 and February 2010.
Consumers have been urged to confiscate the defective toy vegetables from children and return them to The Land of Nod to receive a complimentary replacement product.
For additional information concerning the product safety recall, consumers may contact the company at (800) 933-9904 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, on their Web site at www.landofnod.com, or via e-mail at [email protected].
