Grand Marais, MN—A longtime Minnesota Power employee was found unresponsive on Friday, September 3, 2010, following an apparent workplace accident. The Duluth News Tribune reported that a full investigation into the accident is currently underway by U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) officials.
The 23-year employee, Kyle Damberg, 47, was reportedly found unresponsive at a maintenance building, which was under construction just north of the power company’s Taconite Harbor Energy Center in Schroeder. Officials said Damberg was conducting a status check at the maintenance building alone, when the apparent workplace accident occurred.
The details surrounding the accident have yet to be released, but Minnesota Power officers are claiming it’s a “tragic work site accident.”
Minnesota Power is working with the Cook County Sheriff’s Department and is waiting for the official cause of death. OSHA officials are also investigating the workplace accident.
