Los Angeles, CA—Famed comedian Robert Schimmel was tragically pronounced dead on Friday, September 1, 2010, following a car accident along a Phoenix highway. ABC News reported that Schimmel was riding in a car with his 19-year-old daughter when the accident occurred on August 26, 2010.

Schimmel, 60, was a passenger in his daughter’s car, when she reportedly lost control after swerving to avoid another accident along a Phoenix highway.

Schimmel and his daughter were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries. The daughter is expected to recover, but sadly Schimmel succumbed to his injuries on September 1. Schimmel’s 11-year-old son, who was also a passenger in the car, was not injured in the wreck.

Details surrounding the accident haven’t been released, but officials are investigating the fatal accident.

Schimmel is best know for his frequent appearances on “The Howard Stern Show” and other HBO programs, including his own special, “Unprotected.”
