West Palm Beach, FL—Federal and local officials are investigating two suspicious phone calls that prompted the evacuation of a JetBlue flight. The “C” concourse at Palm Beach International Airport (PBIA) was also searched as a result of the Monday evening, August 30, 2010 bomb scare, according to information provided by WPTV.

A Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) spokesperson stated PBIA’s Department of Airports received two phone calls, one at 5:20 p.m. and another at 5:26 p.m. While specific details regarding the phone calls have not yet been released, a bomb threat seemingly prompted the swift evacuation of a LaGuardia-bound JetBlue plane.

Additionally, a security sweep was made throughout PBIA’s “C” concourse. JetBlue, American Airlines, Air Canada, Com Air and Sun Country are all airlines that fly out of that specific concourse.

Gigi Brooks, a passenger aboard JetBlue flight 366 to LaGuardia Airport in Queens, New York, alleged the aircraft was getting ready for its departure when the pilot notified passengers and crew members that the plane was being evacuated.

The passengers were also informed to leave their luggage on the jet and proceed towards the exit. Brooks contended the JetBlue plane was “swarming” with sheriff’s officials and bomb detection dogs.

Nobody was permitted to enter or exit the concourse during the security sweep, Brooks added. The concourse has since reopened, given that no bomb threat was actually found.

Authorities from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), FBI, and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are conducting a full probe of the PBIA bomb scare.
