Carroll County, TN—Four workers were injured when a cable on a crane snapped, which dropped a concrete slab on top of them. The men were working on a bridge along Tenn. 424 in Carroll County, just three miles east of U.S. 70 between Cedar Grove and Clarksburg on Tuesday afternoon, June 22, 2010, as reported by the Jackson Sun.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TDOT) reported that four workers identified as, Rocky Sanders, Odell March, Richard Stone and Ron Fleming were working on the flood-damaged bridge when the cable snapped, dropping the slab of concrete onto them.

Three of the workers were airlifted by helicopter to area hospitals for treatment. One worker was taken to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville; another was transported to Regional Medical Center in Memphis and the other to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Three of the workers have returned home, while the fourth is still in stable condition at a Memphis hospital.

The Texas Department of Labor and Workforce Development officials are investigating the workplace accident, and will be determining if any citations will be assessed.
