Consumers are urged to contact the companies to receive additional information regarding the recalled cribs and the risks associated with them.
According to CPSC Chairman Inez Tenenbaum, “Cribs should be the safest place in the home for infants and toddlers… CPSC is committed to addressing the hazards with cribs and restoring parents’ confidence that their child will have a safe sleep.”
The CPSC is currently working towards eliminating all potentially dangerous cribs from the marketplace to prevent future child injuries and fatalities.
The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) also launched a novel crib safety initiative, in which the association has already begun working with participating manufacturers.
The manufactures named in the mass-recall of cribs are providing consumers with complimentary drop-side crib immobilization kits and replacement hardware and assembly instructions. Consumers can obtain the immobilization kits, hardware and instructions by contacting manufacturers directly.
Last month, the CPSC warned consumers of the perils linked to drop-side cribs, noting that a total of nine million cribs have been recalled over the last five years.
