Colonie, NY—Six airplane occupants complained of turbulence-inflicted injuries upon arriving at Albany International Airport (ALB) Saturday, May 8, 2010. Continental Express Jet Flight 2768 was en route from Cleveland, Ohio when the plane experienced mid-air disturbances. The turbulence occurred approximately 40 miles away from the airport. Onboard injuries also prompted the crew to request emergency medical services (EMS) crews to respond to the airport before the plane landed, as reported by TimesUnion.com.
According to information provided, the twin-engine regional jet was about 40 miles west of Albany International Airport when it became caught in severe turbulence. As a result, a flight attendant and passenger “struck their heads on the ceiling” and subsequently fell to the ground. Four others also allegedly complained of soreness.
Several ambulances were stationed at the airport when the plane landed at approximately 1:45 p.m. However, only two of the six injured plane occupants required medical transport. An unidentified female flight attendant and male passenger were taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital via Colonie EMS ambulance. The other four were reportedly treated at the airport and released.
Although reports indicate they suffered back and head injuries, their conditions were unspecified. Continental Airlines spokesperson Julie King stated, “I’m not able to confirm the exact nature of the injuries or exactly how they were injured at this time.”
