Houston, TX—A Klein High School student hit a Klein Independent School District school bus, sending two people to the hospital with injuries. The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m., on Boudreaux near the Willow Dell subdivision in northwest Harris County, as reported by the Houston Chronicle.
The Tuesday morning, April 20, 2010 wreck occurred when the high school student struck the bus in the southbound lanes of Boudreaux. Another vehicle then struck the wreckage, and a third vehicle swerved to miss the wreck, causing the motorist to drive into a ditch. The bus reportedly had 10 students on board—a mixture of intermediate and high school students—who were on their way to the district’s Alternative School located at the district annex at Louetta and Stuebner-Airline.
The high school student, whose vehicle hit the bus, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. His injuries were not disclosed, but he is reportedly in serious condition. He had apparently been pinned in his car following the wreck, requiring fire fighters to cut him from the wreckage.
One student on board the bus was taken to the hospital after complaining of a headache and pain. The driver of the car who struck the wreckage after the initial crash was picked up by his parents from the accident scene. The driver was also reportedly a Klein High School student.
The identity of the driver of the third car or if the driver was injured was not reported. A full investigation is underway.
