Bogalusa, LA—A violent double-fatal head-on crash occurred near Bogalusa, Louisiana along Louisiana Highway 10 on Friday night, April 16, 2010. The deadly motor vehicle collision (MVC), which involved a sport utility vehicle and pickup truck, resulted in a vehicle fire and resulted in injuries ranging from minor to fatal, according to information provided by WWLTV.com.

Louisiana State Police (LSP) authorities reported an eastbound SUV attempting to pass four vehicles in a no passing zone when the horrifying collision occurred. Although the SUV, driven by 29-year-old Kevin Larsen, managed to pass the vehicles, he seemingly failed to merge back into the eastbound lanes in time. Consequently, his SUV struck a westbound pickup truck, driven by 31-year-old James O’Bryant, head-on. On impact, Bryant’s truck burst into flames, only coming to a stop after veering into a ditch.

Emergency medical services (EMS) crews responded to the crash site to transport those injured in the wreck, however O’Bryant suffered severe injuries, which he succumbed to at the scene. Larsen was taken to an area hospital where his critical injuries proved fatal as well. Two passengers riding in the SUV at the time also suffered injuries and required medical transport. Reports stated a 23-year-old male passenger was taken to Riverside Medical Center with minor injuries, while a 3-year-old child was transported to New Orleans hospital with serious injuries.

Toxicology tests were administered and are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab as accident probes are expected to be underway.
