Miami – A homeless man, who was seriously injured in a peculiar attack in which his face was partially chewed off, is reportedly recovering from the incident. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Ronald Poppo, 65, was reported by doctors to now be walking and talking after the attack.
As noted in the report, Poppo, whose attacker, Rudy Eugene, was shot and killed by police during the incident on May 26, had to have his left eye removed and will require more surgeries prior to exploring reconstructive surgery options. However, he was stated by doctors to be in good spirits following the horrific incident.
Nicholas Namias, the co-director of the Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and a University of Miami trauma surgeon, is quoted by the AP as stating of Poppo, “He’s pleased to report to all of you that he’s feeling well, he’s eating, he’s walking around with physical therapy, he’s talking with us.”
Poppo is expected to remain at for several additional weeks.
