Tennessee personal injury attorney alerts- Officials from the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) are investigating an accident involving a dumpster that fell from a semi-truck.
Hendersonville, TN—A dumpster fell from a tractor-trailer on Monday, March 15, 2010, causing injuries which ranged from non-life threatening to fatal. The early morning incident occurred on Vietnam Veterans Boulevard (SR-386 interchange) in Hendersonville, Tennessee, according to information provided by WKRN.com.
Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) officials reported an empty dumpster, carried by an eastbound tractor-trailer, fell from the rig at approximately 5:20 a.m., subsequently striking two eastbound vehicles traveling on the roadway at the time. Darvin C. Mann, 53, was driving the Allied Waste Services semi-truck when the collision occurred. Mann did not sustain any injuries in the incident.
Emergency medical services (EMS) crews seemingly responded to the scene to transport two injured victims to area hospitals to be treated my medical personnel. One of the motorists, whose vehicle was violently struck by the dumpster, suffered severe injuries, which proved fatal at Vanderbilt University Hospital around 7:30 p.m. Another driver whose vehicle was also struck by the flying dumpster was transported to Hendersonville Medical Center with undisclosed injuries. That particular motorist was reportedly treated and released.
Vietnam Veterans Boulevard was closed off to motorists until 8:30 a.m., pending preliminary accident investigations and clean up. Authorities from the Tennessee Highway Patrol will be probing details of the incident to figure out whether the dumpster was properly secured to the trailer when the accident occurred.
