Jackson County, MI—Five people were transported to hospitals after becoming involved in two separate motor vehicle accidents in Michigan on Monday, February 1, 2010. One incident was described as a rollover crash while the other was a head-on collision, according to information provided by MLive.com.

In the first motor vehicle accident, an unidentified man was driving around a curve on Moon Lake Road at a reported excessive rate of speed, when he lost control of his southbound vehicle and struck a rock on the side of the roadway at approximately 2:20 p.m. This impact allegedly caused his blue Chevrolet Blazer SUV to overturn onto its hood. The motorist was extracted from his vehicle by responding emergency medical services (EMS) personnel and then airlifted him via medical helicopter to Ann Arbor to be treated for his serious, though non-life threatening rollover crash injuries.

Another crash involved an eastbound SUV, driven by Rachel Smith, as well as a westbound pickup truck, driven by Sandra Anderson. The motor vehicle collision (MVC) occurred when the SUV struck the pickup truck for unknown reasons at approximately 8:24 p.m. on E. Michigan Avenue. Responding medical personnel transported the pickup truck driver as well as three of the SUV’s occupants, including a two-year-old boy, to area hospitals to be treated by doctors and nurses. Accident investigations are underway.
