Product liability lawyers alert- Pier 1 Imports’ gold glitter and silver glitter tea lights were recalled.
Fort Worth, TX— The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) http://www.cpsc.gov/, Health Canada, and Pier 1 Imports (U.S.), Inc., has voluntarily recalled the silver glitter tea lights and gold glitter tea lights. The teas lights reportedly pose a fire hazard to consumers, who are now asked to stop using the candles unless otherwise instructed.
About 37,000 recalled tea lights were recalled in the United States, and 3,000 more were recalled in Canada, after discovering that the glitter on the candle can ignite from the flame, posing a fire hazard. So far there have been three reports of the glitter igniting, but no injuries have been reported. Two styles of tea lights were recalled; a clear box of 24 silver tea lights with SKU 2410335, and a clear box of 24 gold glitter tea lights with SKU 2410311. The SKU number can be found on the bottom of the packing of the candles. The recalled products were sold at Pier 1 Imports throughout the U.S.A. and Canada from September 2009 through December 2009 for the retail price of $10. Consumers who have bought the recalled product can return them to their nearest Pier 1 Imports retail store for a full refund or merchandise credit.
For additional information, you can contact Pier 1 Imports at (800) 245-4595 between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s Web site at www.pier1.com
