18-wheeler accident lawyer alerts- A semi-truck was left dangling off the side of a Minnesota bridge after wreck.
Minneapolis, MN—The driver of an 18-wheeler that was dangling off the side of a bridge is lucky to be alive after his rig wrecked. The big rig hit an ice patch and jackknifed on Monday, December 14, 2009, around 10:00 a.m., on northbound I-35 near highway 21 in Faribault, as reported by Kare11.com.
According to the State Patrol, a semi-truck was traveling northbound on I-35, when the semi hit an ice patch, jackknifed, and struck the bridge, which left its cab hanging off the side of the bridge. The driver, Gary Wandrey, 61, sustained non-life threatening injuries in the wreck. Responding fire officials rushed to the scene, and rescued Wandry from the unstable 18-wheeler, placed him a backboard, and slid him down on a ladder to safety. Wandry was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries by doctors and nurses. The cab of the big rig was later lifted back onto the roadway. Luckily, there were no other motorists involved in the single-vehicle wreck. I-35 reopened after it was closed for over two hours while crews cleared the accident scene of debris. Police officials are reportedly conducting a full investigation into the wreck.
