Winona, MN—An out-of-control school bus crashes into three cars after the driver reported feeling a bump and lost control. The crash injured two people. The school bus crash happened on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Broadway and Mankato Avenue, as reported by the Winona Post.
Police officials reported, the driver of the school bus, Barbara Baures, 57, stated she felt a bump and then lost control of the bus. The out-of-control bus swerved and hit three parked cars, jumped a curb, and hit a tree. The bus reportedly hit two 1996 Plymouth Voyagers and a 1992 Chevrolet Truck with a trailer. The vehicles, who were all owned by the same person, sustained minor to severe damage from the collision with the school bus. The school bus reportedly only transporting one Winona High School freshman, who was uninjured, when the crash occurred. The school bus driver, and a teacher’s aide were transported by area emergency medical services (EMS) crews to the Community Memorial Hospital as a precaution. Baures was given a drug and alcohol test, which is required by law, and passed. The bus reportedly only sustained minor damage in the wreck. Police officials stated the school bus driver would not be cited for the crash.
