Florida U.S. 27 automobile accident takes the lives of a pregnant woman, infant, and male passenger.

Lakeland, FL–A tragic car crash in Polk County on U.S. 27 near Davenport claimed the lives of 3 passengers on Tuesday evening as reported by The Ledger. According to Polk County Sheriff’s Office highway accident investigators the fatal automobile accident happened about 6:40 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2009. A car traveling with a driver and three passengers was crossing U.S. 27 east onto Citrus Ridge Drive, when it was struck by a van also carrying a man, woman, and baby traveling north of U.S. 27.
A pregnant woman and infant inside the car were ejected from the motor vehicle and a male passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Polk County Sheriff’s deputies found the pregnant woman in a ditch where she was pronounced dead from her traumatic injuries. The driver of the car was transported by emergency medical services personnel (EMS) to Lakeland Regional Hospital for treatment of his critical injuries. The unidentified infant was flown to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital in Orlando but died from the traumatic injuries suffered in the van versus car crash. The man, woman, and baby traveling in the van were transported to Heart of Florida Hospital for their reportedly non-life threatening injuries.
