“I was born an artist and will die an artist,” answers Fabrizio Berti when asked about the origin of his artistic inspiration. “It was the only thing I could do,” explains the artist, “it’s something you feel inside; and I realized that people recognize it in me.” Fabrizio Berti’s paintings feature rounded figures harmonized by muted colors and placed in a rare context with few significant objects. Their faces have barely indicated features or are completely devoid of them. “I don’t usually paint the features,” says Berti, “sometimes I just give a few brush strokes. These are faces that you can like or dislike, but when you look at them they still have an expression.” Fabrizio Berti sometimes uses watercolors and has been labeled an Impressionist for his style. During this period he prefers wooden planks to canvas, he uses mixed media and his style borders on expressionism. But he sets no limits in techniques and materials, he describes himself as an all-round artist and is also a clay sculptor. “My mission is to depict the everyday. I never use marble or iron in sculpture because I find them cold. I follow my instincts; A chunk of alabaster was brought to me once, and a sixteenth-century character came out.”

Fabrizio Berti lives his work as a divine investiture that he received from birth.
