Syracuse, UT, USA – 09/25/2022 (PR Distribution™) –
Elevations RTC uses Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) as one of the many therapeutic approaches they use to treat teens participating in their program. The Utah-based inpatient treatment center has several different therapy approaches, and the overall effectiveness of DBT shines.
With each passing year, Elevations RTC staff sees that students with trouble regulating their emotions or weak emotional communication skills respond well to DBT. in one Study 2014found that 77% of participants no longer met criteria for a BPD diagnosis after DBT treatment. It’s a very effective approach.
The Elevations RTC DBT program is linked to four primary skills: Mindfulness, Stress Tolerance, Emotional Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. These primary skills are useful in everyday life and can help students develop more effective coping skills, better regulate their moods and emotions, and improve the way they communicate their emotions with others, especially their families.
All primary therapists at Elevations RTC are trained and certified by the Linehan Institute, where DBT was developed. They use these skills in individual, family and group therapy. DBT is also used daily in student teams and a weekly DBT group led by one of our certified therapists is available for those who need additional support and training.
Parents also participate in beginner and advanced video conferencing groups called the DBT Skills Group with Clinical Director Jennifer Maddock. Parents are learning more about the DBT program so they can have more effective conversations with their child as their teen progresses in the program and how to apply it in their own lives.
