Former President donald trump recently recruited the former Florida Attorney General Christopher Kiss to lead his legal team after he was turned down by some others, the New York Times reported.
Bringing in a “distinguished attorney” to fight his multi-jurisdictional cases came at a cost. The times said Citing two sources, Trump offered $3 million in what the publication called an “unusually high” upfront fee.
A Politico report said so A $3 million fee was paid from the Save America PAC. Kise is representing Trump in both the Justice Department investigation into the Jan. 6 riots on Capitol Hill and the federal agency investigation into the classified documents seized from his Mar-a-Lago residence, the report said .
The Save America PAC was created by Trump in November 2020, shortly after the presidential election. He used it as a key fundraising vehicle after the presidency, Politico said.
Meanwhile, the Times report noted that Trump’s legal team is experiencing many power struggles and is also beset by its own legal challenges. Two lawyers working on the Mar-a-Lago document case – Evan Corcoran and Christina Bobare under investigation for allegedly giving prosecutors and federal agents false assurances in June that Trump had returned all sensitive government documents, the publication added.
About ten attorneys are working on the main investigation Trump is facing, with Corcoran, Bobb and Kise focusing on the documents case, the NYT report said. Boris Epstein, Trump’s former campaign adviser the quarterback could be considered in the Jan. 6 documents and cases, the publication added.
