Ive here. As much as I love the video presentation with the transcript, the long talk with Greg Travis on Covid organized by WSWS is well worth your time (you can listen to it 1.25 times longer). Readers may remember Greg Travis from the Boeing 737 Max accident. Travis, a software developer/technologist with a strong interest in public policy, was an early and accurate critic of Max, and his posts include helpful explanations of how sensors such as AOA work.

A major theme is how our public healthcare system is “disappearing” Covid through persistent underestimation, recently made worse by changing definitions and intermittently halting or reducing key types of data collection and reporting. The scientist GM, who frequently emails about data reduction and trickery, said: “I’m missing some subtleties that I wasn’t aware of myself.”

This discussion focuses on how officials continue to deliver misleading information about Covid, initially by misrepresenting its severity, touting the false notion of “natural” and “herd” immunity and that Covid gets weaker over time. As Travis said at 32:55:

Disease does not subside with age. They don’t get milder as they get less novel. Basically, the flu has been the same severity for hundreds of years. It didn’t get any milder. Polio, my favorite example, was endemic in the United States from 1890 to 1960, and it has been endemic for 70 years. It has never been milder.
