The new integrative mental health clinic in Tampa, Virginia, Florida, places every behavioral health service offered at the agency in a warm, private, peaceful clinic. The two-story, 144,000-square-foot facility includes a substance abuse rehabilitation and rehabilitation center, a 60-bed inpatient mental health rehabilitation center, and an inpatient treatment program for homeless veterans.

Rooted in trauma-informed care, including reducing and eliminating known adverse stimuli and environmental stressors, actively engaging individuals in a dynamic multi-sensory environment, supporting self-reliance, providing and promoting connection to the natural world, Leo Daly‘s (Atlanta) is designed with a focus on providing veterans with a sense of dignity, personal choice and security throughout their recovery journey.

The clinic is organized around integrating interdisciplinary services, with key adjacent areas simplifying the transition between inpatient and outpatient programs. The non-institutional environment is enhanced by placing security in the center of the building rather than at the entrance, where the main clinical areas are visible.

The building organizes two first-floor inpatient wards around a central supporting core. The transitional housing project is located in the West Wing, with a private entrance maintaining the dignity and confidentiality of veterans.

Psychological rehabilitation and rehabilitation are located on the east side to provide access to external spaces. The center provides care for veterans with substance use disorders, and services are available to dual-diagnosed patients in addition to computer education, multipurpose and other classrooms.

The second floor houses outpatient mental health, PTSD, suicide prevention, and psychological functioning, with interdisciplinary teams providing holistic care.

Interior finishes that reflect nature, such as wood or biophilic patterns, ample daylight, and planned connections to the exterior provide a calming interaction with nature. Public spaces emphasize the regeneration of social skills.
