Soaring High Industries, the parent company of brands like Maverick Hemp, Brue, and Me Organic, is rolling out its new brand Black Buddha Cannabis. Geared toward distribution, BBC products will be available to dispensaries around the country.
High-Powered Talent
The new brand is the latest venture by entrepreneur Roz McCarthywho is also CEO of Minorities for Medical Marijuana and Soaring High Industries.
Actor Malik Yoba from Cool Runnings fame has signed on as Chief Strategy Officer, adding even more high-powered talent to the company.
The Journey Back to Wellness
After suffering a traumatic brain injury in a car collision, McCarthy navigated her journey back to wellness with the help of CBD and cannabis, combined with daily therapy, Buddhist practices, and healing modalities including mantras and meditation. BBC was created to help people on their own journey to health and wellness by incorporating the methods McCarthy used.
Code of Ethics
Sustainability, diversity, and social equity are also paramount to the ethics of the brand, carrying on the theme of McCarthy’s other endeavors as M4MM and Soaring High CEO.
“Buddha Cannabis (BBC) is set to establish a new paradigm
for the industry as a black-owned, environmentally conscious, wellness-focused, and equity-driven brand,” McCarthy said.
Part of the way the brand’s mission statement is becoming a reality is by partnering with minority-owned and operated companies and bringing opportunities to marginalized communities.
Joining McCarthy and Yoba is M4MM’s Erik Range as Chief Diversity Officer. He will be responsible for creating, communicating, and implementing their robust ESG plan. Some of its features include their “People Over Profits” program where a percentage of profits will go back to support community-based organizations and social justice work.
Using 100% recyclable materials for the company’s signature “One Hitta Quitter” glass chillum is another way BBC living up to its goal to be a conscientious brand that focuses on sustainability.

The Future of Black Buddha
With the talent, ethics, enthusiasm, and brand awareness BBC operators bring to the table, it is likely consumers will see the brand’s products on shelves of local dispensaries in the near future.
“I’m a proud Black woman raised by a mother who encouraged me to think big and dream bigger,” McCarthy said. “The creation of M4MM and BBC is a testament to hard work, tenacity, and perseverance.”
