Rapper and COOKIES CEO Bernard recently announced on Instagram that he has been diagnosed with cancer. He later shared a post thanking his friends and followers for their words of support and comfort.

The cannabis tycoon co-founded the COOKIES marijuana brand in 2008 with partner Jai. Their namesake strain has since become one of the most popular breeds in America.

Berner initially posted the image on Instagram with the words “time to fight,” followed by a caption explaining his diagnosis.

I think what makes cookies so special, and my music career so special, is always being transparent and sharing my journey with you. So I figured that instead of fighting it alone, I would have the people who brought me to this day come and fight with me. Three weeks ago, they found traces of cancer in a series of blood tests.

I had an operation today hoping to get off easily, only to find out I had a major battle ahead of me. If you know me, this has always been my greatest fear, but I am content with where I am, what I have faced, and every possible outcome.

For the next month or so, we’ll be focusing on addressing this as aggressively as possible, as well as spending time with family, finishing my album { Gotti } and planning what’s next for cookies. Since I’m strong and want to believe as much as possible, I’m also realistic. I want cookies to be around forever and I want my team to have a clear direction on my vision, planning a lot of menus with my breeders and my partners.

I want to focus on a whole food plant based diet and make sure I have absolutely no stress in my life. I love you all so much, I’m so lucky to be able to do half of what I do and really hope to keep going and do more. That being said, if you’re a friend, there’s no reason to text or call, just send that good energy out of my way and let me think about it. I might miss some activities, and I’ll be back as soon as my body and mind allow.

I really want to encourage everyone to be mindful of their bodies and health, if you have cancer in your family, you can do blood tests like I did for over 40 cancers, and I’m glad I did because knowing is half the battle. It’s time for the biggest challenge of my life and I’m ready! Thanks again to each of you!

It worries me because I feel like when I die, when I leave , who’s going to do this?” Luckily, the rapper is just as passionate about his health as he is about his career, so he’ll be perfectly ready to fight this battle.

“It’s very important that we understand how much cannabis does for people, and how much plants do for people in general. I just reversed my diabetes by drinking green juice as a supplemental meal, adding more vegetables, and Knowing about plants can help.”
