Boston, MA–On June 29, 2009 at 1:30 a.m., a car crashed into a large tree on County Road, a winding two-lane street on Pocasset, injuring three and leaving one dead according to the Boston Globe. Cassandra Flynn, who recently turned 21, died in the Buzzard’s Bay crash and her friend Erica Pouler suffered multiple injuries while celebrating the birthday. Twenty-one-year-old Jonathan Muir, who was driving the 1984 Porsche 944, apparently lost control of the coupe and crashed into a tree. Muir and the fourth passenger, Sonya D’Angelo, also 21, were both injured. Barnstable County police officials reported the driver and passengers had been at the Courtyard Restaurant and Pub, which closes at 1 a.m., just before the tragic automobile accident.
Muir and D’Angelo both suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to Falmouth Hospital. Hospital officials stated both traumatically injured car crash patients had been transferred to trauma centers in Boston. Flynn was also taken to Falmouth Hospital and was pronounced dead at about 2:30 a.m. Pouler suffered multiple injuries in the crash and was initially transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, and then transferred to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. According to Bourne area police officers, there was no evidence alcohol played a role in the crash. Factors do include speed and a damp roadway. It was also reported that none of the passengers were wearing seat belts. No one has been charged in relation with the crash and it remains under investigation.
