Coinbase acquires Israeli company Unbound Security

Coinbase asserts that Unbound’s multi-party computing technology “will play a fundamental role in Coinbase’s product and security roadmap.” The cryptocurrency exchange emphasized that this move will also increase Coinbase’s influence in Israel. Coinbase stated that it believes Israel is “a hotbed of strong technical and cryptographic talent.”

In addition, Coinbase plans to “establish a center of excellence in Israel to ensure that Coinbase remains at the forefront of security and blockchain technology.” The company emphasizes that it will gain insights from some of the most famous cryptographic experts.

“Through this acquisition, Coinbase not only has access to some of the most advanced cryptographic security experts in the world, including Guy Peer, the co-founder and current vice president of R&D of Unbound Security, who brings more than 20 years of cryptographic security experience, and is also in Israel. Mature and fast-growing technology centers conduct business,” Coinbase added.

Coinbase acquired BRD Wallet for an undisclosed amount last week

Six days before Unbound Security’s acquisition announcement, there was news that Coinbase had acquired the open source BRD wallet. Adam Traidman, co-founder and CEO of BRD explained that since its establishment in 2014, BRD has grown into a community of 10 million customers.
