Colorado based JBS Swift Beef Company recalls 380,000 high risk beef.

Denver, CO(JusticeNewsFlash.com)–Federal regulators and JBS Swift Beef Company have issued a recall of about 380,000 pounds of beef products. JBS Swift Beef Company is a firm located in Greeley, Colorado. The Class I recall, meaning the product may cause serious health consequences or death, was issued on June 24, 2009, after discovering the beef products may possibly be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

A complete list of the various items under recall is available at the FSIS website: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/News_&_Events/Recall_034_2009_Release/index.asp. The recalled beef products were made on April 21 and April 22, 2009. They were sent to retailers and distributors in the following states: Wisconsin, Utah, Tennessee, South Carolina, Oregon, Nebraska, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, Colorado, California, and Arizona.

An E. coli infection may cause bloody diarrhea and kidney failure, especially in newborns, elderly people, and people with poor immune systems. Consult a physician if you believe you have been infected with the E. coli germ. Consumers should stop consumption of the recalled products immediately. Questions can be directed to the Weld County firm at 202-907-4253 or to the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 1-888-MPHotline. Consumers who have been injured due to the consumption of the recalled items may be entitled to compensation for their damages. Consult a Colorado product liability lawyer for assistance.
