San Diego-A San Diego police officer was injured by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident in Mira Mesa, and a suspect was arrested.

The police confirmed that the driver was Moises Correa and was charged with attempted murder.

Thursday morning, a Officials initiated a traffic stop San Diego police said it was on a black Chrysler sedan with an Arizona license on Black Mountain Road and Westview Parkway.

Authorities said the car slowed down at first, but soon moved away from the officer and tried to avoid the officer who was pursuing it.

The police said the car was parked in the driveway, reversed gear and accelerated back to the police motorcycle following it. The impact knocked the police officer to the ground and pushed the motorcycle down the driveway.

The police said the car then drove north on Heishan Road.

Authorities said the suspect was carrying a female passenger when the car hit the police officer.

The homicide team was called to the scene to investigate the incident.

At around 6 pm on Friday, officials learned that Correa was in the Mira Mesa area.

The San Diego Police Air Support Unit found Correa and a female companion in the backyard of a house in the 9100 block of Dewsbury Avenue. They believed they were there at the time of the incident.

According to the police, the two entered the house and the police immediately surrounded the house. The people in the house came out, and the SWAT team responded to the scene.

The police said that after an hour of confrontation, Correa and the woman were not found at first. During a second scan of the residence, Correa and the female were trapped in the rafters in the garage and refused to come out. The chemical agent was released into the garage, and Correa and the woman surrendered.

The police officer was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. He has been assigned to the motorcycle unit of the transportation department for more than five years and has worked in the department for more than 13 years.
