San Diego (CNS)-On Monday, the average price of self-service regular gasoline in San Diego County rose by a tenth of a cent to $4.282, the highest level since May 1, 2014.

According to data from AAA and the Petroleum Price Information Service Center, the average price of the past 14 days has risen for 12 days, up 5.5 cents, including six tenths of a cent on Sunday. It is 2.6 cents higher than a week ago, 7.3 cents higher than a month ago, and 1.17 dollars higher than a year ago.

Jeffrey Spring, the corporate public relations manager of the Southern California Automobile Club, said that the average price has risen by $1.10 since the beginning of the year due to the sharp increase in oil prices and the increase in demand due to more people driving to work.

The sharp increase in prices from a year ago was mainly due to the sharp drop in the early stages of the coronavirus pandemic, when driving and demand fell sharply due to home orders aimed at reducing the spread of the virus.
