Captain Tom Moore “returned to what he thought was home” said his family
Sir Tom Moore’s family stated that after his ashes were buried in his family cemetery along with his parents and grandparents, he “returned to what he thought was home”.
On Monday, close relatives of the World War II veteran and NHS charity fundraiser walked through a guard of honor made up of schoolchildren and heart organizations to his final resting place in Riddlesden Morton Cemetery in Keighley, West Yorkshire.
After a simple farewell ceremony, his daughter Hannah Ingram-Moore said that her father was extremely proud of being from Keighley, and added, “Totally, I think this is where he should go. The community will take care of him”.
Mrs. Ingram-Moore chatted and shared their stories with members of the guard of honor and her sister Lucy Teixeira, her children Benjay and Georgia, and Sir Tom’s son-in-law.
She told the PA News Agency: “To be honest, this is a happy day. But I didn’t realize how emotional I was about it.”
