The 24-year-old athlete died in a car accident before preparing to participate in the Tokyo Olympics.
The Qatar Athletics Federation said on Saturday that Qatar’s 400m athlete Abdullah Harun, who won a bronze medal at the 2017 World Championships, was killed in a car accident in Doha. He is 24 years old.
The Secretary-General of the Federation Mohammed Issa Fadala stated that Qatar’s sports and track and field have “lost a great hero” on a global scale.
Fadala said: “After recovering from his injury, he (prepared) participated in a rehabilitation program to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.”
In 2017, the world’s 400 million meters bronze medallist and former world youth champion Qatar sprinter Abdalelah Haroun died in a car accident. The World Athletics Federation is deeply saddened. He was only 24 years old.

The Qatar Olympic Committee also expressed condolences for this defeat on Saturday.
“#Qatar sprinter and world 400m bronze medallist Abdalelah Haroun passed away today,” it posted on Twitter-along with a black and white photo of the athlete holding a bouquet of flowers and the flag of Qatar.

Haroun is of Sudanese origin. He represented Qatar for the first time in 2015-in his early days he became the focus of attention by recording an extraordinary time of more than 400m.
At the 2017 IAAF World Championships in London, he finished third in 44.48 seconds, behind South African champion Wade van Niecke and Bahamas athlete Steven Gardner.
Harlan also won a silver medal at the 2016 Portland World Indoor Championships and a gold medal at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
