Eriksson suffered a cardiac arrest in the first match of the 2020 European Cup group match between Denmark and Finland.

The Danish team doctor said that Christian Eriksson’s heart stopped beating and “he was gone” before being resuscitated with a defibrillator at the European Championships.

Eriksson passed out in the first match of the Denmark Euro 2020 group match against Finland on Saturday and underwent a long period of treatment before regaining consciousness.

“He is gone; we did a cardiac resuscitation, which was a cardiac arrest. We got him back after a defibrillation (defibrillation),” Mortenbosen said at a press conference on Sunday, adding Rickson was still undergoing further examination in the hospital after he fell.

“The exams that have been completed so far look good,” Boyson added. “We did not explain why this happened.”

The 29-year-old Eriksson suddenly fell to the ground in the 42nd minute of the game and ran to the left sideline after a Danish throw-in. When the crowd of 16,000 people calmed down, his teammates gathered around him while he was treated on the court and then carried away on a stretcher.

The Danish Football Association DBU Director Peter Moller (Peter Moller) said that Danish players have been in touch with Eriksson through video conferences.

Coach Kasper Hjulmand said that Eriksson told him that he didn’t have many memories of Saturday’s collapse and he was eager to return to the court.

“He wants us to continue playing,” Helmand said. “He said he thought he could go out and play. Christian felt best when he had a football at his feet.”

Helmand quoted the midfielder as saying: “I think you feel worse than me. Boys, I think I will start training now.”

“Christian is in a good state of mind, and after experiencing all these uncertainties, this is a huge relief for the players,” Helmand said. “There is no doubt that we are in trouble.”

News of support for Eriksson, who played for Inter Milan, has flooded in.

Group B matches were suspended and finally restarted after 1 hour and 45 minutes. The Finnish team won 1-0 in their only game attempt.

Former Danish internationals Peter Schmeichel and Michael Laudrup criticized the handling of the incident by the UEFA governing body. Players can choose to end the game on Saturday night or Sunday.

“In retrospect, to be honest, I don’t think we should be back on the court,” Hjulmand said. “I have considered whether I can do things differently.”

Denmark cancelled the training courses planned on Sunday, but Hjulmand said they will try to resume normal daily life on Monday.

He insisted that the players are determined to finish the game, and Denmark will face Belgium in Group B on Thursday.
