The new Footscray Hospital in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia is the largest single healthcare infrastructure investment in Victoria and will support the growing demand in Melbourne’s booming western suburbs. Goals include ensuring that families can get the care they need near their homes, as well as reducing waiting times and reducing pressure on nearby hospitals.
The new 2 million square foot hospital will replace the aging Footscray Hospital (Footscray, Victoria, Australia) in the 1950s and relocate to a new location a little over half a mile. After moving to the new location, the original hospital will be decommissioned. This new 500-bed hospital will increase outpatient, mental health, palliative care and surgical services. Compared with the previous hospital, it will provide care for nearly 15,000 additional patients, and compared to the current Footscray hospital capacity, it will allow the emergency department to receive an additional 20,000 people per year.

Comprehensive design team led by architects Cox Building (Melbourne) and Billard Leece Partnership (Melbourne) and Stanteck (Melbourne) is providing engineering services for the project.
