The city of Encinitas will launch a new electric bike sharing program this fall.

The Encinitas City Council approved the service last week. It will be operated by BCycle, a subsidiary of Trek.

These bicycles will be Electra electric-assisted bicycles, with a single charge ranging from $7. The service will provide monthly plans and discount plans for students and senior citizens. Bicycle stops will be spread all over the city.

Morgan Ramaker, executive director of BCycle, said: “When you turn on the pedal assist function, you can turn it on and off during riding, which will only give you a little boost.” “Acceleration stops at a certain speed, with a maximum speed of 17 mph. If you want to step on the pedal faster than yourself, you can, but it will always consume your power and only amplify it.”

Ramaker believes that the plan will be more organized and avoid problems caused by unmanned scooters being abandoned on sidewalks and houses.

“We feel that we have found a good middle ground. This is a more simplified docking system, which is more adaptable, can flexibly maintain order and reliability, and at the same time really allows us to maintain a good system. People Know the location of the bicycle. In some places you may not see such annoying things.”

Also during “Bicycle Everywhere Week”, San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chairman Nathan Fletcher celebrated the success of the “Pedal Forward” program, connecting pedal-assisted bicycles with people in the community who are willing to provide cycling data stand up. At the end of the plan, the goal is to keep the participants cycling.

“This is really a great model,” Fletcher said.
