US President Joe Biden continued to urge Israel and Hamas, which controls the Palestinian territories of Gaza, to agree to a ceasefire in Israel in response to rocket attacks. After a week of violent conflict, the ceasefire has killed more than 200 people.
Lebanese security sources said Israel fired 22 artillery shells at Lebanon. Israeli security forces say that six rockets have been launched in southern Lebanon.

The White House stated that Biden “encouraged Israel to do everything possible to ensure the protection of innocent civilians” and that the leaders of the two countries “discussed the progress of Israel’s military operations against Hamas and other terrorist organizations in Gaza”.

Amnesty condemns U.S. approval of arms sales to Israel
Human rights organization Amnesty International condemned the U.S. plan to sell weapons worth $735 million to Israel in the latest conflict with Palestinian armed groups, saying that ratifying the resolution undermined the U.S. commitment to safeguard human rights in the world.
“By providing weapons that can be used to commit war crimes, the U.S. government runs the risk of intensifying attacks on civilians and sees more people killed or injured by U.S. military weapons,” Amnesty International U.S. Middle East Advocacy Director Philip Nassif ( Philippe Nassif) and North Africa said in a statement that they urged Biden to reconsider this decision.
After the rocket failed, Israel shelled southern Lebanon
The Israeli military said it fired six shells from Lebanon into northern Israel on Monday, but did not cross the border.

Law professor says Gaza image suggests Israel has committed “war crimes”
Ardi Imseis, a law professor at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada, said that Israel’s disproportionate use of force in the Gaza Strip resulted in possible war crimes.
Imseis told Al Jazeera: “We have reasonable grounds to believe that war crimes and violations of international humanitarian law are committed mainly due to the lack of respect for distinction, proportionality and the principles of prudence.”
Imseis said that these infringements appear to be “mainly from Israel, but not the only ones.”
