Kuala Lumpur – A recall has been ordered by the Health Ministry’s Pharmaceutical Services Division for paracetamol syrup produced by Royce Pharma Sdn Bhd. The Borne Post reported that the recall on Paracetamol 120mg/5ml syrup was initiated following concerns over the product containing alcohol.

Datuk Eisah A Rahman, senior director, says the company failed to declare the content of alcohol on the product’s label and packaging.

Rahman is quoted as saying of the issue in a statement “The ministry had granted offer to the company to supply the product as it did not mention the alcohol content in either the label or the leaflet of the product.”

Rahman pointed out however, that the product was registered with the ministry’s Drug Control Authority (PBKD) and adhered to its standard for quality, safety, and effectiveness, further stating, “Members of the public need not worry as the product contained alcohol within permissible level and poses no safety issue.”

Consumers with questions about the recalled medicine can contact the Pharmaceutical Services Division of the ministry by calling 1-800-886-772 or emailing [email protected].
